New Fiji Calender

Calendars target visitors

By ANA NIUMATAIWALU
Wednesday, December 10, 2008

IF you can't get tourists to visit certain parts of Fiji, you can always take it to them in the form of a calendar, says former resident and Exodus production director Clinton Bernard.

Mr Bernard recently launched his calendar featuring local models called Fijian Island Girls or FIG.

He said the initial idea after visiting Fiji after a lapse of four-year was to establish a magazine.

He said he was surprised to come back and find so many magazines in the market.

"I wanted to put a youth magazine in the market featuring our local models but when I returned to my surprise there were so many local editions out already," Mr Bernard said.

"This calendar acknowledges local girls and their diversity a mixture of the different cultures in the country.

"For me this is my way of expressing myself and the good memories I have had as a child growing up in Fiji and what we want to attract tourists to the country.

Mr Bernard said the photographer who took the shots was Tyrone Fitzgerald.

"Most of the stuff we shot was done in the villages.

"We are targeting the United States and Australia markets."
