Mick Butler and Susan Etherington of Australia took out the Hobie 16 Open World Championships at the Suva Point in Laucala Bay yesterday.
Fijis pair of Grahame Southwick and Keveni Natadra went into the final day at 18th place and finished at 23rd at the end of the 18-day event.
Fijis other sailors Shayne and Torika Brodie finished in 44th place.
Christophe Renaud and Alban Rossollin of New Caledonia finished second followed by Cam Owen and Susan Ferris. Butler said they had enjoyed the event and hoped to return to Fiji for the South Pacific competition. 'Its really been a hectic competition out there and I'm happy we've come out on top,' Butler said. More than 1500 competitors from 28 countries competed at the event.
